Newly constructed fill slopes and cut slopes in erodible soils need to be protected from sediment loss and possible destabilisation.

The type of erosion control solution will depend on a number of factors including soil type, steepness of the slope, likely rainfall intensity, the ability of the slope to vegetate and the function of the slope.  Solutions can involve either natural or synthetic erosion control blankets to help establish and reinforce native vegetation. The use of cellular confinement systems is often recommended on steeper, critical fill slopes which are subject to heavy rainfall especially if little vegetation is likely to establish.  

GeoPro Coir Mesh and GeoPro Coir Blanket are used on slopes which it is predicted in the long term strong  vegetation growth can be established.  The type and weight of blanket will depend on whether the slope is seeded or planted into and the soil type. GeoPro Coir Logs can be detailed along the contours of very steep slopes where matting is difficult to place in order to prevent sediment loss and erosion.  This has been particularly successful method in dealing with fire ravaged slopes where exposed soils.  The diameter of the these coir logs can be sized to suit.

GeoPro Rockmesh is suitable for steep rock slopes with weathered faces subject to rockfall.
