GeoPro Desludging Tubes are used in a variety of industrial applications to reduce the volume of high water content sludges and contaminated slurries by separating the solids from the filtrate and so greatly reducing the disposal costs or allowing the solids to be recycled.
GeoPro Desludging Tubes are fabricated from panels of high strength, permeable, woven geotextiles which are securely seamed together. They come complete with holding straps and fill ports. They are available in a variety of sizes to suit project needs and some smaller desludging bags are re-usable.
A dredging unit or submersible pump is used to pump sludge into the fill port of the desludging tubes. Polymers/flocculents can also be added to the process to increase the efficiency of the dewatering and improve the retention of fines and metals. GeoPro drainboard can be placed below the desludging tubes and this dimpled sheet allows filtrate to weep from the base and so improve the speed of dewatering.
GeoPro Desludging Tubes are normally pumped a number of times with sludge to maximise their capacity. During this pumping process filtrate will be expelled from the tube and the solids will remain inside. Once full the desludging tubes are left to dry before being cut and emptied.
