GeoPro Coastal Tubes are fabricated from panels of high strength woven geotextiles which are seamed and combined with holding straps and fill ports.  They are then located in their final position and filled with beach sand and sea water.  The method of filling can either be hydraulically or mechanically depending on the equipment available and the size of the tube and project.  These sand filled structures, while densely filled, still retain some flexibility to absorb the wave energy of a marine environment.  They offer more stability than using smaller bags especially in more exposed locations.

Often coastal tubes are used after a large storm event to provide rehabilitation and protection to undermined beachfront properties, coastal roadways, marine walls and sand dunes where a large loss of existing beach materials has taken place. These structures are very cost competitive especially when you can utilise the local beach sand to infill the tubes.  GeoPro Coastal Tubes are 'flat packed' and crated which makes them convenient and easy to transport, even to remote marine environments.

Coastal tubes need to be combined with sound erosion control measures to ensure they are able to cope with the rigours of this demanding environment.  This may involve using smaller tubes in combination with a flexible apron to protect the main structure.  In some situations coastal tubes can be stacked to provide the necessary height to prevent overtopping.
